There were more garage doors than windows on this street. They were the kind that had a bulky overhead box that made cranky noise when the door rolled up. Everything felt out of scale. When these large doors were all closed, I felt like walking next to Polyphemus’s cave, somewhat intimidated and yet instinctively curious.
